The Tongren Festival Began With Shaman #1
Watch
Producer: travelswithsheila
http://TravelsWithSheila.com The Festival began with a fast hike up the hill at altitude trying not to miss any part of the Tongren Aboriginal Festival held once a year. This video highlights Shaman #1 in a trance, pawing the ground and making horse sounds. Offerings and prayers in the temple, intricate dance routines. A "not for tourist" event - that is becoming more popular every year.

A Nomad Family in The Ruo Er Gai Grassland
Watch
Producer: travelswithsheila
http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com The nomads of the Eastern Tibet Plateau still live off the land, traveling with their yaks and black yak wool tents from summer home to winter home and back again. Yak dung (or poop) is formed into yak patties and used for fuel. This nomad Mother used her bare hands to pop additional yak patties in the fire when needed and move the burning coals around. Spinning yak fur, milking yaks...a very hard life.
