An overview of Koh Samui, Thailand
Watch
Producer: gilliang
We rented a private holiday home away from the usual tourist towns, and had a lovely laid back holiday. We still managed to see most of the sights - except the main tourist towns. Well, we did have a quick look, the tourist bit is all the same everywhere, wall to wall sunloungers and shops. The rest of the island is well worth seeing.

Egypt : ABU SIMBEL
Watch
Producer: rocioto
Abu Simbel has been building since 1250 BC.The entrance leads into a large hall with massive pillars fronted by figures of the pharaoh Ramses II - When the temple was threatened by submersion, during the construction of the Aswan Dam, the UNESCO,in 1963,launched a world wide appeal. During the salvage operation, the temple was dismantled and raised over 60 meters up the sandstone cliff where it had been built more than 3,000 years before. Here they were reassembled, in the exact same relationship to each other and the sun, and covered with an artificial mountain. The rays of the sun would light up the statues of the gods twice a year.

Thai Bangkok : running along the chao praya river
Watch
Producer: rocioto
The run on the river of Bangkok between sacred temles, markets on stilt houses and the royal golden palace .The chao praya river is a main highway, with barges every few minutes, ferrys darting between them, express boats that are faster than driving in the fanciful traffic. Weeds float upstream and down with the wind and tide. The color is as bad as it looks. Kids swim in it, but the express passengers don't let it splash on them.
