BERLIN - METROPOLIS ULTIMO
Watch
Producer: thursdaysrecords
A visit to Berlin is always worth the travel. Here is a travel tour through the city and the surrounding area, in form of a collage of fotos made during my April, 2007 visit. Born in (West) Berlin, with my early childhood, as well as 2 adult years spent in Berlin, I have truly experienced that unique feeling known only to a Berliner. Life after the Wall is even more fascinating, as Berlin keeps developing into an ever greater city of wonder and magic. I can highly recommend Berlin as a vacation destinaion. - Enjoy the show, enveloped in the Benny Goodman Big Band Classic -Sing, Sing Sing-, and please take a moment to rate and comment.

Hong Kong 1

A weekend in Hong Kong. The subway, buses and the Star ferry can all be paid for using the octopus card which you buy at the start of your holiday. Details in the film, plus a trip around the harbour on a special Star Ferry boat. The three videos are all one, really, about 8 minutes in total, but I've broken it up into 3 easier size chunks.

I came across this guy on my way uptown on Sunday. He's about 2 1/2 feet tall and does one of the best Michael Jackson impersonations that I've ever seen.

The century-old original City Hall subway station has been closed to the public for decades. (Accessed here on a Transit Museum tour.) See the ticket room, skylight and Guastavino tiles. Empty 6 trains loop thru from the downtown to uptown tracks here.

Photo of the Day: Stockholm's T-Bana

A friend just forwarded me a link to some very impressive pics of Stockholm’s Tunnelbana stations – apparently, they’re known as “the longest art gallery in the world.”

Metro, Underground or Subway?

Not owning a car, and being a dedicated urban traveler, I’m a big fan of public transportation, and not just for the ability to get around faster and more cheaply, but for the typically slick-but-simple design package that goes along with it, too. Ergo,

New York's Stinky Subways

Perhaps as a response to the recent heat wave, when NYC’s normally odoriferous subways must have risen to a whole new level of rankness, the Gawker crew are asking their readers to submit info about the particular smells of subway stations.

Global Underground

Here’s one more way your iPod can help you travel below the radar on your next urban vacation, this time while traveling underground.
