Santorini is a remarkable island, the result of an exploding volcano some 4,000 years ago destroyed the Island and the resulting tidal wave destroyed Crete and much of the Minoan civilization. Today its is a popular destination because of its amazing views of the caldera. The Blue domed churches cling to its cliffs like sapphires on a string of pearls.
