A section of Star Wars episode 2 was filmed in this famous royal residence: La Reggia, the royal palace of Caserta Italy. La Reggia has 1,200 rooms, however not many are open to the public. Of equal beauty is the park behind La Reggia which extends over 120 hectares on slightly sloping land. It was designed by Luigi Vanvitelli and completed by his son Carlos in the 18th century. It is a favorite location for Italians and visitors alike. Walk with us as we view the various waterfalls, basins filled with fish and fountains dedicated to the gods. Certainly not your everyday stroll.

Villa Scarpariello, on the sea, Ravello Italy
Watch
Perched on the side of a hill and reaching down to the ocean, this wonderful villa offers incredible hospitality along with its ocean views. Built on the site of, and incorporating into its design, a torre (tower) that was used in ancient times to watch for sea marauders. We planned on staying two days and ended up staying for a week. The name Scarpariello, I believe, comes from the word "scarpa" or shoe in Italian. The "ello" ending is often used in Italian to indicate a diminutive such as cute, pretty, small. We were told that the stone formation, viewed from the ocean looks like a "little shoe" thus Scarpa + ello = Scaprariello. I am guessing that the middle "ri" was added so the word could roll off the tongue.
