Ulan Bator, or Ulaanbaatar (Улаанбаатар) in Mongolian, is the capital of the republic of Mongolia. Modern Ulan Bator is located slightly east of the center of Outer Mongolia, at 47°55′12″N, 106°55′12″E (47.92° N 106.92° E) on the Tuul Gol (or Tola) River, a subtributary of the Selenga, in a valley at the foot of the mountain Bogda Uu (wikipedia).
