Many of the hill tribes in north Thailand celebrate their new year the same time as the Chinese and last for several days. One of these hill tribes are the Lisu who originate from Yunnan Province in China. Here in part 1 you will see the early morning start of the festivities, which include drinking, fireworks, animal sacrifices and spirit worship and the beginning of the dancing. Many of the hill tribe where their colorful costumes during the New Year celebrations and the Lisu probably have the most elaborate and colorful costumes .

In part 2 the celebration continues with great food, colorful costumes, music and dance.

Here is a short streaming video of the festival over a two day period. The first day, April 13, is the Songkran parade, which takes place on Muangchareon and Thapae roads at 2 PM and lasts around 3 hours. We then hit the streets to join the water fight mostly concentrated along the moat in the city center.

These are the highlighs of Christmas and New year 2005/6 which i spent in Sydney with my mates. Video starts with us collecting some of the beer we needed and goes into CHristmas day on the beach and barbequeing in the park behind at Coogee. Then goes into new years day, about 6am on the beach totally mashed with all our crew.
