Turkey - the last part of our 5 month cycling trip across Mediterranean Europe from Portugal to Turkey. It was more of a relaxation time staying in Ankara for almost 2 weeks with a bunch of great Turkish students and then on an almost entirely empty (at that time of the year) Kinali island just off Istanbul. Here, on a tiny island, in total silence it was time to look back at the entire trip and realize how amazing Europe us and despite the small size how different one end (Portugal) is from the other end (Turkey) and how it gradually changes from one end to the other. The music is by Aynur Dogan (Ehmedo) and Orient Expressions (Istanbul 1:26 A.M.) from "Crossing the Bridge" CD.

The slideshow with some movie clips to the music of Goran Bregovic (Mavro Xioni) sung by Alkistis Protopsalti covers the route from the Albanian border in Ioannina province going downhill through Ioannina city all the way to the Gulf of Corinth and across to Peloponnese and then east towards Athens from where we caught a ferry to Turkey.

This part covers cycling in Pulgia and the Salento region, the heel of Italian boot. After crossing the Apennines from Napoli and reaching the coast of Adriatic, we turned south and cycled to the bottom of the Italian boot's heel passing through Bari, Alberobello, Lecce and finishing the Italian part of our trip in Brindisi where we caught a ferry to Vlore, Albania. The slideshow with some movie clips ends with a Pizzica festival that we were lucky enough to attend in the heart of Salento. The music to the video is by Eros Ramazzotti.

Across Mediterranean Europe by bike. The slideshow with some movie clips covers the part of the ride from Civitavecchia through Rome and then by via Appia to Napoli and across the Apeninnes to the Adriatic coast and Bari. It ends in a beautiful, tiny town of Alberobello. The music that we chose for the first part of the movie which covers Rome is by Mozart and the second song is by Laura Pausini.
