Lake Garda is probably the most famous lake in Northern Italy. It is also the biggest. It is 52 km long and when you tour the lake along its shoreline your car will clock up more than 160 km. A tour of the lake is certainly worth it, particularly the shore by Garda town. The western shore has a lot of tunnels and coverings that prevent you from seeing the views. Of course there is also a tour boat that takes you from the most northern point, Tobole, to the most southern point, Peschiera, via all the bigger towns.
