In Memory of Larry "Alan" Humburg (1954 - 2007). Recorded on location at Coral Bay, St. John, US Virgin Islands, January 2007. Alan Humburg was a long-time local St. John musician with many talents and a zeal for life. Though afflicted with a disabling physical illness, his spirit soars in humble surroundings while singing one of the many tunes he had authored. Alan was a good friend of mine. Located on the Northshore of St. John, Cinnamon Bay is one of the most popular beaches on the island. Today we snorkeled out and around Cinnamon Cay, a couple of hundred yards off the beach. Reef fish galore along with, Spanish Makerel, Parrot Fish, and Barracuda. All in a days fun in the sun. Join Paz, Mark and the wonderdog "Shank" as they explore the Brown Bay Trail and Settlement Ruins on St. John, US Virgin Islands. Early on our group takes a detour off the beaten cart trail and checks out the "Immigrant Beach" where hundreds of "illegal immigrants" from around the world are secretly dropped off on their search for a new life. Our explorers try their hand at treasure hunting too. Even though they don't find anything special, they do discover a seldom seen, but easy accessible and beautiful part of the National Park on St. John. Another Day In Paridise for the Reluctant Tour Guides. This day they decide to hike over to Newfound Bay on the other side of St. John's East End. First a brief tour of Vie's Beach Camping and a trip to Vie's Snack Shack, call 340-693-5033 for camping reservations - only $25.00 per night to stay on a multi-million dollar private beach property. The hike takes us up and over to the Bay with great views along the way. Newfound Bay can only be reached by hiking or by boat. Join the Adventures of the "Reluctant Tour Guides" and explore the ruins of the Reef Bay Sugar Mill, the last sugar mill to operate on St. John and the only mill to use steam power to process the sugar cane. Over the knoll to Genti Bay where the National Park Charter Boat will pick up most of the hikers. But not our fearless "Reluctant Tour Guides" - they head back up the L'Esperance Road trail to Centerline Road. The entire hike takes 4-5 hours and covers just a little more than 5 miles. Another episode of the "Reluctant Tour Guides". This time they head out from Vie's Beach Camping and go spearfishing at Flanagan Island. Flanagan is located about two miles east of St. John in the waters between the US and British Virgin Islands. It's a pretty "wet" trip in a small boat - but Harry and Maria take it in stride. In this video Andrew freedives (breath hold) down 25 feet under an underwater arch and then shoots three fish for dinner. THIS VIDEO IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT ONLY.
