Description: Mangaia is not a beautiful island in the usual sense, but it is an island of great beauty. The landscape is incredibly rugged, many roads are rough and rubble-strewn, but everywhere there's greenery and life. And what makes it most special are the people. Mangaians have a fierce sense of independence, great pride in their island and show incredible warmth to visitors. The island is less than an hour's flying time from the Cook Islands' capital, Rarotonga This is the third in a series of short films about the Cook Islands. I am not disputing for one moment that Mangaia is an island of great beauty, and certainly agee that all of the Cook Islands have their own beauty. The point I was making was that it's not everyone's idea of a tropical island. And it 's not just me saynig that...several islanders went out of their way to make that point to me. I loved it, and I would urge people to pay it a visit. You are right to be proud of your home, and I hope others will find out why by going there.

E Tei, akatano ia mai ta taua tara. Mei te mea e , e miss-print, sorry ! I disagree with the above comment about Mangaia not being a beautiful island in the true sense. All islands in the Cook Islands, have its own beauty, regardless. I am a proud Mangaian, now residing in New Zealand.
