Visit the town of Jim Thorpe in the Leigh Valley of Eastern Pennsylvania. Named for the American Indian who won the most medals in the 1912 Olympics, only to have them taken away when it was learned he played baseball for $60 a month the previous year.
The Asa Packard Mansion overlooks a historic downtown, struggling to develop on a summer tourism industry.
