Actually it's not Kona, it's the Big Island. Kona refers to the West side of the Big Island. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park spans both the east and west side of the Big Island. Mauna Kea is part of the Big Island but is not within the boundaries of the park. There are 5 volcanoes that make up the Big Island.
