Description: Confetti, those candy coated almonds that you find at weddings, was invented in pre-roman days in the area around Sulmona Italy. In Sulmona the candy stores specialize in creating colorful flowers, butterflies and all kinds of interesting objects with this coated candy. Visit the factory store of De Carlo and see what this candy is truly like. When fresh made (and not stale like at weddings) it is truly delightful.

My husband and I went to Italy a few years ago to visit Abruzzo, where my grandparents came from. When we got to Sulmona, we fell so in love with the town that we ended up staying there for much longer than we had planned. It's a great base for making trips to neighboring towns. I still have my confetti flowers!

I have been here. I bought my wonderful Italian mother-in-law some confetti flowers.... they made her cry. My husband's family is from Canzano which is just up the road from Sulmona.
