Railway stations like this one on the corner of Swanston and Flinders Streets in Melbourne are often known as the hub of a city.

Almost a repeat of my trip into Birdsville from the north I was soon to find out going down the Birdsville Track wasn't going to be as easy and I thought. Ending up stuck to my axles for most of the day.

I had visited the town before and during the famous horse race.

I had spent some time in north Queensland and the next part of the trip was to take me to outback town of Birdsville. Along the way I was to find out that bad weather makes the roads difficult to traverse.

I was working in the nearby town of Mount Gambier and on my last morning before heading back to Melbourne I took a short drive south of the town to Mt Schank.

Down on the southwest coast of Victoria between Princetown and Port Campbell is the Twelve Apostles. While working in Warrnambool I charted a helicopter and flew at wave top past the limestone cliffs.

This is the first part of my journey to the Cooper Creek. Starting just north of Broken Hill I travel north into the outback.

I was on a three month trip around Australia when I arrived in an area known as the Gulf of Carpentaria which is in the state of Queensland. I camped on a cattle station near the town of Normanton and got the chance to go on the helicopter which was mustering cattle at the time.
