Three guys, Three jobs, One dream. The name Red Umbrella Studios came about from an online blog that Jack, Ray and Benson shared in University called "Under the Red Umbrella." This blog was a way for the three to pitch ideas and storylines with the aim of transpiring these ideas into films one day. A Red Umbrella was used as an icon to separate us from the vast world in which streets are filled with common black umbrellas on a rainy day. While attending High School in Calgary, Jack, Ray and Benson first pursued an interest in video production in 2000 when Ray first purchased a Sony Digital Video Camcorder. Over the years, through experimentation, a variety of videos including music videos, commercials, travel videos, and shortfilms were produced. Following a short hiatus between 2006 and early 2008 due to study abroad programs and full-time jobs, Jack, Ray, and Benson recently re-discovered their passion for video production. While the three of them reside in Vancouver and Calgary, they will continue to collaborate and provide carefree/non-serious forms of entertainment for friends and family all around the world.
