About Me
We travel a lot...and till a year ago it was mainly because we wanted to experience India. Not the India seen from the clinical confines of a hotel room and air-conditioned coaches on a 'package tour' but the real India - vibrant, full of contrasts and contradictions, a blend of tradition and technology with heaps of culture in every serving.
But that, like I said, was till a year ago.
Over the last 12 months we started documenting all our experiences. Soon we started advising family, friends, friends' friends and theirs, about the unique places they could stay in and visit during their travels to the various parts of India.
It was exciting, and satisfying, for us to see people come back from their trips full of stories to tell about their 'new' experiences in a country they have lived in most of their lives. And like a contagious smile, everyone wanted others to experience the same.
That's when the idea of having a website with a listing of these unique places to stay came up. A single source where people could find homestays, heritage houses, rural village stays, jungle lodges and other independent non-hotel accommodations, read about them, see the photo's, view videos and make a booking.
http://www.namastay.in is that idea.
namastay.in has helped us organise these stays and also make some money...enough to sustain ourselves and quit our full-time jobs to do what we love doing. Experiencing India.
We still don't charge anything from people wanting to book through us. The rates people see on www.namastay.in are exactly what accommodations charge. In return for referring people to stay at these small unique stays, the accommodation owners give us a commission. This helps us continue doing what we're doing and make available more unique places to all. So whether you book through us or directly at the accommodation, you pay the same.
