Posted 1 day ago

Big Wynnie Style for Less
$199 a night

It seems as if the best hotel deals to be found these days are in Las Vegas where a downtown in tourism is forcing the thousands and thousands of hotel rooms on the strip to drop their rates, including the Wynn Las Vegas.

We found this killer rate of $199 a night with a $50 dining credit on select dates from now through November 30, 2008. Two-night minimum stay is required. Call 866-770-7420 or book online. You must mention code WRHPX2.

Las Vegas: Celeb Travel: Britney's Pre-VMAs Vacay
Posted 2 days ago

Quick, before we have to get back to laboring! Britney Spears watches a pair of buff, shirtless men prepare her beach chair at the Mirage pool in Vegas over the weekend.

Rumor has it Brit may be back to work even faster than planned with a surprise appearance at the Video Music Awards next weekend, the same awards that are delivering our next episode of "The Hills" a whole day early.

But then it's not much of a surprise if there are already rumors about her return to the stage, right?

Las Vegas: WTF Hotel News :: Jason Kidd Gives Elaine Wynn His Gold Medal
Posted 8 days ago

USA b-baller Jason Kidd is fresh off his gold medal win in Beijing and guess what he's doing? No, he's not going to Disney World. He's going to give his gold medal to Elaine Wynn, wife of Steve Wynn.

Since we could not do this sort of explanation any justice, we're giving you Kidd's own words:

"Last summer, we stayed at the Wynn for (what seemed like) a lifetime, close to three weeks," Kidd said. "We met at a banquet, we got to talking, and she really understands the game.

"I told her I'd make a deal with her, that if we won the gold medal, I'd give it to her. She thought I was kidding. But I

Las Vegas: Is the Riviera Hotel and Casino Edging Away From Elvis?
Posted 9 days ago

About a year back we were getting all excited about the idea of the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas being converted into an Elvis-themed casino after rumors that Robert Sillerman was about to get involved.

Now, the Riviera has announced that it's half-way through a $20 million renovation project but so far, there's no sign of Elvis. The first phase involved remodeling over half of their hotel rooms, giving them completely new interiors plus a bunch of accessories like new flat screen TVs and iPod alarm clocks.

They say the casino is also going to get a refurbishment, especially the VIP slot areas and new convention facilities, but there is still no mention of The

Las Vegas: Treasure Island Gets New Rooms But Don't Worry, Pirates and Wenches Remain
Posted 9 days ago

Treasure Island recently debuted its new rooms and, um, we're wondering when we can come visit?

While we're not crazy about the various shades of brown someone decided to decorate the rooms with, we're really intrigued by the various views touted on the hotel's web site.

For instance, there's floor-to-ceiling shots of the Spring Mountains or the Strip available from the Deluxe and (duh) Strip view rooms, or the panoramic views available from (duh) the Panoramic and Tower Deluxe rooms. (Other room amenities include pillow-top beds, marble baths and handcrafted furniture.)

Howevs, there are no photos of said views available on TI's web site, so, uh... how about that invite? Otherwise, we'll have to settle

Las Vegas: Inside the Trump Las Vegas
Posted on Aug 19, 2008 07:40 PM

When a friend invited us to join her on a little sojourn to Las Vegas to check out the Cher show, we jumped at the chance. Sweetening the deal was her room at the Trump Las Vegas, a new hotel which we have seen from afar but had never stepped inside.

Yesterday, we reported that we were liking the Trump after one day. There were some downsides but overall we were kinda loving it. Having no casino or nightlife, it was a refreshing change of pace for this frequent Vegas visitor.

Oh what a difference a crappy night's sleep makes.

Las Vegas: Snapshot :: Echelon's Construction Ghost Town
Posted on Aug 19, 2008 05:18 PM

As we told you earlier this month, The Echelon Project which was to include a Hotel Shangri-La as well as a Mondrian and a Delano has been put on hold until the credit markets get better. That means construction that has already started on the site has been stopped indefinitely. Here's what it looks like now.

While new projects have been delayed or crapped out completely in Las Vegas, we aren't noticing much of a downtown in Sin City just yet. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, visitor numbers and occupancy rates are down just a touch. But it's not hugely noticeable. The crowd at the Cher concert was nearly sold-out on Sunday,

Las Vegas: The Worst Anti-View in Las Vegas, Courtesy of the Cosmopolitan
Posted on Aug 18, 2008 09:00 PM

That little ol' hotel in the center of the Cosmo construction is the Jockey Club

Since the Cosmopolitan has been in the news lately, we've seen alot of pictures of how the site looks and one thing we've noticed - the Jockey Club, which is a timeshare hotel - is being surrounded on three sides by the Cosmopolitan. We're not talking about a parking lot, or grove of trees, or a pool - we're talking about 10-story high concrete walls.

That would make the Jockey Club the ultimate Room with an Anti-View!

We did some investigation and it turns out that the Cosmopolitan and Jockey Club actually are good neighbors. Yes

Las Vegas: Cher Stumbles But Soldiers On Fabulously at the Colosseum at Caesars
Posted on Aug 18, 2008 06:10 PM

Cher is back in Las Vegas again, having started up the second round of her concert shows at Caesars Palace and we were very fortunate to be able to get second-to-last row seats in the nosebleed sections to see this diva perform.

And we actually got quite a show. During the second song of her set, "I Found Someone", Cher fell down at the front of the stage.

Apparently, her heel got stuck in--as she later put it--"one of these jeweled...whatever these fucking things are." She was referring to her elaborate beige, glittering and fringe-heavy Bob Mackie outfit, complete with wild headress of course.

But Cher soldiered on, making jokes about how she has never fallen down in her
