I know the dregs of winter are making us all a little gloomy, but, man, this weekend’s travel sections are a morbid, tetchy bunch:
- The FT is bullish on totalitarian tourism, with stories about St. Petersburg and the relics of Mussolini’s Italy.
- Determined contrarians can get tips from the NYT on finding nature in Hong Kong, and theme-park-free travel in Orlando, FL.
- The Washington Post meditates on the rebirth of the Balkans as a hot destination, and continues to fret over those recent lost luggage statistics.
- The SF Chronicle is concerned about the lurking dangers of vacationing on the Mexican Riviera, and mourns the loss of bereavement airfares.
The warm weather can’t get here soon enough.
