Not the real kind, the kind that come and spend their dollars in Rio and Buzios, but rather the new slasher movie about a group of hot-but-dumb Yanks who get carved up by organ harvesters on a trip to the Amazon.

Perhaps to give you something to think about during the hours you will spend at the airport if you’re flying during the holidays, USA Today has published a dubious list of “Great Airport Moments in Film.”

There seems to have been a choice of two topics in the travel stories published this weekend: creepy, Halloween-themed tales, or serious newspapers (the WaPo, the NYT) trying a fresh take on the been-there, done-that subject of the Caribbean.

Travel headlines for the weekend of 7/8/06

Last weekend’s travel stories were slim pickings, no doubt due to writers and editors phoning it in before skipping out of town, but apparently on 4th of July weekend, we the people feel very, er, nautical.
